The sex crimes trial of Cezanne Visser, nicknamed Advocate Barbie because of the former advocate's blonde hair and good looks, will resume on Monday, days after her former lover was arrested in the Republic of Belarus.

Visser and her former lover, Dirk Prinsloo, allegedly sexually abused several women and girls.

Prinsloo, who Visser claims forced her into taking part in sex acts with other women and underage girls, fled the country in 2006 while on a business trip to Russia.

He was finally captured on Friday in Belarus after being on the run for over three years. It is alleged he tried to rob a bank with at least two other men.

Visser's trial will continue with the prosecutor cross examining one of the defence team's witnesses.

National Prosecuting Authority officials say her case was separated from Prinsloo's when he fled the country in 2006 and his arrest last week will not have an impact on her trial.

Visser has pleaded not guilty to the 14 charges against her, most of which are of a sexual nature.

Earlier this year, she testified in graphic detail about her life with Prinsloo. She claimed she was under his control and had no mind of her own during their relationship.
