State prosecutor Amanda Bester also asked the court for life imprisonment sentences for Kunene's murder accomplices — Mumukeleni Khoza (26) and Mphakamiseni Khumalo (21).
The High Court convicted Kunene (46) and his two co-accused of the murder on Wednesday.
The three men were also found guilty on a charge of kidnapping.
Judge MH Rampai, assisted by two assessors, found that the three men drove with Hume (47) from Ballito to a dirt road near Kestell in the eastern Free State.
Here she was shot in the passenger seat of her white Volvo in October 2007. The vehicle was then set alight.
Rampai also found Kunene guilty on four fraud charges and a charge of robbery.
Bester asked the court to sentence Kunene to a further 30 years' imprisonment on the kidnapping, robbery and four fraud charges.
Two State witnesses, Kunene's son, Msebenziwenkosi, and Noluthano Nazo, were granted indemnity from further prosecution.
