A Sandton man who allegedly shot and killed his domestic worker's grandson was released on bail by the Randburg Magistrate's Court on Thursday.

Warren Vorster, 36, was granted R5000 bail with conditions. He would have to co-operate with the police investigating the matter and inform the investigating officer if he intended leaving the province or changing his address.

The matter was postponed until July 30 to allow for further investigation.

Vorster was arrested on Tuesday and charged with murder after he allegedly shot and killed Kgopotso Ramolese, 12. The boy was visiting his grandmother Elizabeth at Vorster's home. At the time of the shooting Kgopotso was in his grandmother's outside room when Elizabeth heard him scream and call her name.

She immediately informed Voster, thinking there was an intruder on the premises. Vorster allegedly fired a shot from the main house which killed Kgopotso.
