Six teenagers were arrested in Alexandra on Wednesday after being found in possession of a hijacked car, Gauteng police said.

"They are aged between 16 and 18 years, and are reported to be students in the local high schools," said Constable Neria Malefetse.

The boys were arrested at 5am in various parts of Alexandra, after police followed up on information received about the location of a hijacked blue Hyundai Accent.

"The details of the hijacking are not clear, but police say that the boys are linked to other hijackings in the Roodeport area," Malefetse said.
