Bush retains thin lead in crucial Ohio

US President George W. Bush maintained a thin lead against Democratic challenger John Kerry in the pivotal state of Ohio five hours after polls closed.

Bush had 2.24 million votes or 51.77 percent of the total, compared to 2.06 million or 47.73 percent for Kerry, according to an official count.

Ohio delivers 20 electoral votes.
