Voter's guides
Before you even get started on making a decision about which party to vote for, it's a good idea to know exactly how voting in SA works and what your vote means.
When it comes to choosing a party, policies should matter. And because trawling through countless party manifestos is tedious and time-consuming, we've simplified it for you. Check out one of our voter's guides which compare the policies of the ANC, the DA, the IFP and Cope on the issues of crime, the economy, education and health. Or, if none of the big four appeal to you, read through our summary of what some of the smaller parties have to offer.
Politician profiles
While party policies are obviously important, it is fair to say that South African politics are just as likely (if not more likely) to be swayed by personalities. Sure, we all know about Msholozi, but what about South Africa's other potential leaders?
Read our Q&A with Helen Zille; find out a little more about South Africa's oldest politician Mangosutho Buthelezi; see what Cope's until-recently-unknown presidential candidate Mvume Dandala has to offer; or check out the CVs of the contenders in the Western Cape.
Opinion pieces
And, if you still haven't made your mind up, read through some of our opinion pieces. Find out who the iafrica.com team won't be voting for; discover what some of South Africa's celebs feel about voting; check out Matthew Freemantle's controversial opinion piece on expat voting; or have your say in one of our heated debates.
Something a little lighter…
And finally, if all that serious politicking gets you down, check out some of our lighter features — SA politics made simple, a DIY guide and a mock debate between ANC and DA youth leaders Malema vs Ramulifho. If that doesn't satisfy your thirst for the ridiculous, visit our Week in Quotes page, where The Point indulges in a little political satire.
The Point intends on buying a homing pigeon. Or becoming a politician. Can a pigeon beat a BMW?
