The Western Cape ANC, which was thrashed by the Democratic
Alliance in last week's election, says it is working on plans to
revitalise itself.
It said its provincial working committee (PWC) met on Tuesday
and intended to thoroughly analyse the election results "as a
basis for planning a way forward in the province".
The process of revitalising the organisation and building
support would include a three-day lekgotla of the PWC in mid-May
and a meeting of representatives of all branches.
It would also include a programme "to reach out to and mobilise
all communities and sectors in the months ahead".
The party said it had suspended two local councillors who, it
said, openly sided with the Congress of the People during the
recent election campaign.
Phindile Booi and Xolani Nyanga would be charged and brought
before a disciplinary committee.
Booi is councillor for Cape Town's ward 98, which includes the
settlements of Harare and Mandela Park.
Nyanga is councillor for neighbouring ward 99.
