It's in the breed

document.write("Say what you like, Pit Bulls are infamous for just turning around one day and badly savaging their owners or family members for little or no apparant reason. This was no stranger, it was his own mother and she was watering the garden, not dressing them up in christmas hats or interfering with them while they slept or ate, which is no excuse at all!
People need to understand that Pit Bulls are not suitable pets, anyone willing to take the risk with their families is very stupid. A friend of mine was an avid supporter of the pit bulls' misunderstood nature until his own dog turned on him when he accidentally stepped on it's foot, and I'm not just talking about a snap either, this guy had to have reconstructive surgery to his face and genitals!
It's like buying a thoroughbred horse, even if it has never raced it will still have that instinct to run. it's just bred that way.
It's actually illegal to breed these dogs in some countries. You don't think that indicates a problem?

GREAT DOGS. Definetly not a dog you every want cross though. Had plenty of pitbulls and they were all loving dogs! It's all on how you raise them. If you had to research the number of pitbull attacks and other breeds, they most likely the same. The difference is they cause so much more damage.. L_M");

document.write("To be honest, I never liked pitbulls as I always thought of thems as extremely vicious dogs with bad tempers...That was until I met the friendly pitbull next door...the owner had taken her for training as soon as she was old enough right through to the end. She is the most placid dog you will ever see and comes every morning to greet my female border collie at the wall. My miniature poodle barks at her non-stop and my collie gives him a stern look and a nip on the neck as if to say \"enough now\" and he immediately stops. She stands with her face to the pitbulls and wags her tail as if to say good morning. I do not believe all pitbulls are ill-natured, as she is absolutely beautiful. I cannot comment on two together as they could pack but I dont have a problem with them at all if they are well raised. I think everybody has a problem with them as there is a bad stigma around them as they were bred for fighting in the early days.... Dog Lover");

document.write("I'm still not convinced. Although I'm not just picking on the Pitbull, I have the same opinion of Rottweillers and Boerbulls only to a lesser degree. Do yourselves a favour, google 'pitbull attacks' and see what comes up. If these dogs have a bad rap it's for a good reason.
But hey, I believe Alsations and Dobermanns had a very similar reputation up until very recently and they seem to be lovely dogs - if you're on the right side of the fence that is.

document.write("What really happaned, how the dog was raised or treated. Just because you look after you dog doesn't mean the kids next door aren't terrorising it. Pitbulls are have a bad rep because they are so effective when they attack, not because they attack more then other dogs.. L_M");
document.write("Good point L_M
");
document.write("That is a good point, remember when they announced the daschund as the dog most likey to attack? They don't have a bad rap because they don't do much damage, so one can argue that the pitbull is only feared because he is so effective.
But there are larger, stronger dogs that don't have bad reputations even though they could do just as much damage to a human if they wanted to.
For example,I have been advised not to take my ridgeback to attack training (not that I would) but the reason is that a) he won't attack even if I ask him to unless I am directly threatened and b) if he does attack he'll rip the body armour off in a few seconds. That dog chews through bone like butter - imagine what he could do to a person. Plus they are tall, very strong, quick and agile.
Lets face it, some dogs bite/attack, others don't, it depends on the breed. Not all pitbulls are viscious attack dogs, but the breed is more likely to attack than most and once they get started they do it properly and don't stop until the job is done.
I sure as hell wouldn't walk into a yard with two of THOSE dogs that's for sure, even if the owner is there. Maybe I'm a naf.

document.write("its actually very rare for a pedigreed APBT to attack an individual,unless the dog has been abused.Dog aggression does not equate to people aggressive dogs in this breed as people aggressive dogs were culled in the past to maintain their people friendly nature.The dogs in the attack actually look like Staffordshire terriers and not pedigreed APBT's anyway.Poeple need to stop blaming individual breeds and start punishing those that abuse animals.German Shepherds actually attack many more people than APBT's yet these attacks are rarely published so the public gets a skewered view.People that say pitbulls are people mean just don't know the breed.Just because a pitbull is aggressive to dogs doesn't mean it is people mean as well.In fact Rottweillers and Shepherds that were actually bred to be guard dogs are far more agressive towards people as a whole.. document.write("Yes my subject says it all.
I own four pit bull terriers ( american staffordshire terriers). They are outstanding dogs. Loyal and obedient like on other dog we have ever owned, but make no mistake, they are guard dogs. Breed to perfection in every way.
I have trained my dogs to the point of being able to remove a bone or bowl of food right out of their mouths.
They need training and a great deal of attention as puppies to achieve an obedient dog, just like any other large breed.
I would not trust my animals with anyone not living in our home. This is a rule to be followed with all dogs. That is what a guard dog is bred for. Keep strangers out.
My dogs are very animal aggressive. This is a trait bred into this type of dog, but it could not always be the case. Dogs do have definite personalities and a clash could occur for a number of reasons.
Two of my pits refused to get along (males). I separated them. He does however do just fine with our Labrador (Male). Its strange, I know.
Most owners of APBT’s will say “You have to own one to know what’s its like”. I agree fully.
