What is happening to the people of Zimbabwe is horrific, but the SA government has only deemed it necessary to do something about the problem now that the problem is spilling over its borders. If anything, the comment is in solidarity with the people of Zimbabwe. Of course cholera is not a Zimbabwean disease. But the fact that hundreds of people are dying (and thousands are infected) from the disease in Zimbabwe at the moment is undeniable. As is the fact that they are turning to South Africa for help. The point was merely that only when faced with direct evidence of death (and the threat of a similar scenario in south africa) is the government ready to face the problem.

document.write("I wish I knew more about all the compliacted working of politics and what exactly are the functions of a president. JZ could possibly function as a president, no doubt, as our constitution ensures no one person has too much power. The most important function (I believe) of a president in South Africa,(in a country that is developing and has a large number of impoverished people and suffers from some of the worst crime and violence statistics in the world) is to be the moral compass for the people of this country.
REgarding this JZ has totally failed in this regard. He is a polygymist for crying out loud. How can we have equality between men and women if our president, our leader of our country believes he (a man) is ABOVE women and is allowed to take more then one wife. He has also been accused of rape, which he was acquitted but he does admit to sex with a friends daughter. SA has a rape statistic of 1 in 4 women will be raped. If our president cannot keep it in his pants will the rest of the men in this country do so?
I think our biggest problems in this country are rape, violence, crime and corrupt goverment(which prevent the people who need the help of this great country obtaining it as all the money-and believe me SA has alot of money going around- is either not being used, not going to the right people or being squandered/stolen by corrupt people). JZ can almost tick all those boxes and what with his association to groups willing to commit violence for him you could almost say he does!!!
