By trying to implement this new bus service one would put a lot of these taxis out of business. Do people rally expect that the Taxi industry will just take that lying down? Any attempt to impose the bus system will just lead to violence and unrests and will be doomed to fail with absolute certainty.
Therefore leave the taxi industry alone,it is an African solution to the transport problem.(Obviously it is not liked by the palefaces that live well in this country, drive fancy cars and complain about the taxis on the road)

Time and again I use one of them as \"cover\" on the N2, fall in behind them and shave about 15- 20 minutes of my travelling time from the airport into the city. Thanks,guys!
No where in SA have I encountered worse slow useless drivers than in CT(try standing in a trafficlight q with 15 cars in front of you and having to wait for 4 light changes)

For far too long, this failed experiment is causing chaos. These freaks are a menace on the road and the state of their vehicles would probably cost them the COR/COF in a first world country!
Why not get British or French rail systems like France's SNCF to come in, build and operate the entire system. This will create jobs for the locals, increase activity for metal works, building and associated industry. The French or British would own the system the same way our toll roads are run by private companies. This takes the budget question out of the hands of the government. The tax of profit comes back to governement with profits going back to France or Britain or re-invested in other local ventures depending on feasibility.
French and British do not lack for engineering resources and having had over a 100 years experience at this, they know how to do it first time right.
Commuters buy monthly passes that can be traced back to French or British revenues for taxation. How many taxi operators declare their true earnings? Commuters will be safer, have transport 24/7/365. All the jobs linked to the building and operating of the service will be salaried and taxable which should please the gravy train government greatly!
No need for the TAXI industry and it's gangster like existence. We're in the new millenium. Lets stop trying to re-invent the wheel and learn from first world countries!

A rail system is easier to govern. This will also decrease the flow of traffic on some of our busiest roads and freeways. Unlike a taxi with with wheels comming off, cardboard for brake pads, 20Litre spug-spug for fuel tank, propshaft falling on the road or slick tires that belong in Formula1, a train is superbly maintained, simply because there is funding to do it and because not doing it is a catastrophe!
