And to those like Boere Seun who seem to know little about the history of this country thinks that it was not a big deal and that they are experiencing so called reverse racism. Think of the Jews & Arabs, the Catholics & Protestants, Black & White, Zulu & Xhosa, just to name a few.
These are centuries old concepts, wars & strife. It is the process of natural selection, the same as in the wild, where species try to dominate based on strength, intelligence, etc. Why would it be any different for humans?

document.write("I wrote this in 2000 whilst I was trying to rationalize the stae of our Africaness.
I pose the question again in this debate.
The Right White Thing
White law has separated us for over three and a half centuries.
In defiance of the spirit of the great civil rights legislators of the later half of the past century, we have been separated by white flight and economic might, by white fear and white selfishness.
But more recently we have been separated by black pride and I知 aware that the fear of where that black pride might be leading us.
In order for there to be a black power base, do we have to stand by and watch our cities crumble, our schools, universities, hospitals, and transport systems dissolve into chaos?
In order for us to retain our identity and the sanctuary of our historic institutions don稚 we perpetuate a system that is inherently separate and unequal?
I知 aware of the fear of inequality because that fear makes people hostile and makes them desperate.
I知 aware that separateness precludes people being able to know and thus to understand one another.
I知 concerned as to what this separation does to heads hearts and souls.
I知 aware of the anger I feel at the arrogance and insolence that sits low on the brow of then the black underclass as they step into this new world of so called Western Democracy.
I知 frightened that when I hear about rape or murder or burglary or hijacking, I presume that the perpetrators are black, which makes me more aware of the prejudice that remains unpurged in my heart.
More than anything I知 aware that when black and white disagree, when the flames of hostility fan open the ugliness of racial hatred and when racial epithets become an issue, then I think that racial is our only hope.
I fear that I think so because I am white and that such an idea is in my own interest

Naturally, I made many enemies and was ostracised by the \"White\" community due to my approach and association with people of other colour. At the end of it's journey, Voyager was turned around to take a composite photograph of all of the planets in the solar system in which earth was faintly recognisable as a tiny white-blue dot. In his book called \"Pale Blue Dot\", Voyager project leader and world renowned astronomer Carl Sagan said the following: \" Look again at that dot. That's here. That's home. That's us. On it everyone you love, everyone you know, everyone you ever heard of, every human being who ever was, lived out their lives. The aggregate of our joy and suffering, thousands of confident religions, ideologies, and economic doctrines, every hunter and forager, every hero and coward, every creator and destroyer of civilization, every king and peasant, every young couple in love, every mother and father, hopeful child, inventor and explorer, every teacher of morals, every corrupt politician, every \"superstar,\" every \"supreme leader,\" every saint and sinner in the history of our species lived there, on a mote of dust suspended in a sunbeam.
Think of the rivers of blood spilled by all those generals and emperors so that, in glory and triumph, they could become the momentary masters of a fraction of a dot. Think of the endless cruelties visited by the inhabitants of one corner of this pixel on the scarcely distinguishable inhabitants of some other corner, how frequent their misunderstandings, how eager they are to kill one another, how fervent their hatreds.\"
As a 39 year old white ducthman I feel ashamed to have been part of a system which discrimenated on base of colour and income. Yes, it's everywhere and in SA we called it Appartheid, but just because ruling over another race or culture seems to be part of man's nature and history, doesn't make it right and doesn't mean it should be part of our future.
When appartheid was at it's height I was a young boy and pretty much naive to the system, I didn't know any better! I have never hated a person from another race, but as a white young man at the time I definately saw myself as superior to the black man that worked in the street. Only by God's Grace was I able to be healed from. Today I have a deep feeling of love for the same person as well as an appreciation for his contribution to make society a better place, purely because I realise that God created us on this earth as equals. At the foot of the Cross the ground is level! As a white man today I ask forgiveness for every black person who suffered under that wicked system. To those who continue to hate and discriminate, whether it be white on black or black on white, I urge you: Look at yourself, look at your children and see the future through their eyes, then recognise the difference that each one of us can make now to make tomorrow the place we would like to live in today. To all those who suffered, of course you can't and shouldn't forget, but try and see possibility and let us help correct our fellow countrymen, white and black, that still seem to struggle with race hate. To our cities and country's leaders I want to say this: Remember that you are the voice of the various people in our cities and country. The words that leave your mouth will either bless or curse. It will bring about either life, or death. If your genuine concern and motivation is for South Africa (not white SA or black SA), you will give up your rights to be heard or to rule and will rather choose to love and embrace each oneanother! That's what Jesus would have done!
Now it's our turn to make the best of this beautifull part of the pale blue dot! What are we going to do?

I am not the most intelligent person in the world and I grew up not looking at blacks as enemies at all . I did , however , believe that they were lower than us . Why did I believe that ? Well , society brainwashed us into believing that . I didnt have a grudge against blacks but I never had the oppurtunity to mix with them . We had a servant (Lovely old lady) but due to the laws , she was not allowed to have her family stay in the khaya , and all blacks had to be off the street by a certain time . Due to the fact that I grew up with this , I just presumed this was the norm . I went through school and went into the army like all white boys had to do . I never thought that this was unfair that only white boys had to go to the army as , once again , it was the norm . When I went to the army I was naive as far as politics went , and i had not even had any strong political feelings towards anything . The army taught me that the ANC was a terrorist organisation etc and so naturally , that is what I thought was the truth .
Why am I saying all this ? I get so annoyed when I get apartheid thrown at us as though it was our fault . It was not my fault , I was brainwashed , just like lots of other whites were .
