document.write("I feel terrible for this man, who made a single mistake that will haunt him for ever more.  Never mind any legal ramifications & penalties, his conscience will always be there to remind him.<br /><br />The fact that there have been so many break-ins in the area, and that people are \"on edge\" is the real reason this happened.  Police protection for \"normal\" citizens is close to non-existent (when the SAPS does respond at all, it takes hours - not their fault necessarily, also due to lack of resources, equipment, training, etc.)  This means that citizens end up fearing for their lives and the safety of their families and these kind of tragedies are the result.<br /><br />Our thoughts are with the family of the little boy, but also with the man and his family who I'm sure are equally devastated..
