document.write("As others have said, it seems Simon Grindrod views politics largely as a self-service career rather than an opportunity to participate in change. <br /><br />He jumped ship at the first sign of trouble at the ID - the same party that was only too happy to cozy-up to the ANC in Cape Town despite it being abundantly clear that this is not what their electorate wanted. Then he goes and joins COPE - the \"ANC Lite\" of SA politics, the Mbeki camp that he has spent so much time criticising in the past. <br /><br />If Simon Grindrod can't be bothered to ride out the tough times and strive to make meaningful changes in a system that he perceives to be broken, how can he expect people to vote for him again. He seems to be missing the whole point about being an elected representative - he's there to serve, to do something other than feather his own nest. <br /><br />Merely throwing his toys out of the cot - as he is doing by complaining but not getting off his #### and fomenting change - leaves him in much the same place as the average South African: we all complain but do nothing.
