Its time for Africa to take control of their recourses, make the rest of the world pay a fairer price, and use our recourses the way Opec uses oil.

Since the 1800s the massive corporations have controlled our destiny. Now is the time to take it back. . Wallyumbibo");

document.write("Your suggestion is all very well in theory but history both past and present has shown that Africans are not ready to manage their own resources with the exception perhaps of Botswana. As already mentioned Eskom, SABC & SAA are examples of government incompetence in nationalisation and let’s not forget countries like Sierra Leone, Liberia and now Zimbabwe where diamonds have caused countless lives. Nigeria where oil wealth has both destroyed the landscape and the lives of many by turning healthy rivers into sludge streams. To be honest every country in Africa has some history of natural resources working against them. Also look no further than SA where general service delivery is now border line appalling, a result of BEE and other failed government policies.
The simple fact is that successful businesses thrive because the revenue & profit they generate is a direct result of the investment and leadership that keeps them competitive. Both these would cease to exist once nationalised and profit margins would inevitably fall and I can guarantee less wealth would find its way to the people. It's the African way, too many tempted hands sifting through the pot.
I do think however that more of the wealth generated from our natural resources needs to find its way to the poor but nationalisation is not the answer. The ANC has proven they are incapable of successfully managing businesses. One day they will understand that one takes much more pride in ensuring success when one has worked hard to get there and that being at the top is not about solely reaping the benefits.
