Amazon blacklists SA
"); document.write("After all the promises they made to root out theft and to improve on service delivery - who can trust them after this?. John"); document.write("
Welcome to the REAL world!
"); document.write("Just another example of the point we've reached in SA. It's a pretty sad indictment of the state of our country that NO OTHER African country has this problem. That said, I've had MANY things sent over from Amazon in the USA and UK and have never had anything swiped -I must be VERY lucky!
I suppose the local retailers will be smiling though - just last week I ordered a set of 13 DVD's (The World at War) from Amazon.co.uk - total price, including postage R580.00. Price from local DVD shop at V&A Waterfront - R1199! So, it's just not robbery from common PO thieves, but also from the retailers. Ho hum - now I'll just have to inconvenience my friends in the UK by getting Amazon stuff sent to them and they can send it to me.. Martin"); document.write("
Only now
"); document.write("Been sending parcels/mail to SA for last 7 odd years, always surprising when the recipient says package has arrived as I dont really expect it to make it - based on previous experience. Find it strange its taken this long for international co's to blacklist SA....maybe now my mail will get trhough....... Ryan"); document.write("
Dangnabit
"); document.write("I have used amazon for a long time and have never had any issues.... shew.

But dangnabit it will suck cos local retailers rip us a new ring on their prices for the same items.... Graeme"); document.write("
Postal Services in SA
"); document.write("We all know we cannot post anything to or from SA. It will not reach the recipient or leave the country. But nothing has been done about it. Empty promises are made and incorrect figures - claiming our system is secure - are made. Now I suppose Amazon's stance will be rediculed. Until we are honest about about the state of ALL crime in SA, we can shout and stamp our feet but nothing will be done.. Suzi"); document.write("
Amazon blacklists SA
"); document.write("This is disgusting, really it is. And our president says we DON'T have a problem with crime in this country! #cough#

So perhaps now, the rest of the world might wake up to see just what a mess South Africa has become! Crime, corruption, the list goes on and on! #sigh#. observer"); document.write("
