Eugene Terre'Blanche is back. Again.

Yip, the AWB leader recently called up his closest mates and invited them to a fun little three-day sleepover in an attempt to blend together some 23 far-right groups and take the fight for a "free Afrikaner" to the International Criminal Court.

You see, everyone's favourite equestrian-disembarker is demanding the right to a separate republic. Again. I suppose it was always going to happen since 'Terre'Blanche' translates to 'white land' in French.

Back in March 2008, the 68-year-old announced his return to politics. He cited corruption, crime and another crowd favourite, Eskom, as the prime reasons why South Africa's political landscape ached for the return of his rotund silhouette. Ol' Eugene's telephone was apparently ringing off the hook.

"The hour is here," Terre'Blanche bellowed at the time, before making his first mention of a possible road-trip to The Hague. Well Eugene, it's been a year and a half. Any luck yet?

"Now is not the time to be afraid. Now all true Afrikaners must reach out to each other and fight to the bitter end," he announced earlier this month, like an addict finally getting his fix of the limelight.

"We are being oppressed again. We will rise again."

Rousing talk. Malema-esque, even. But realistic? I think we all know the answer to that. Quite simply, there is no place in South Africa for separatist states (despite Oranie's best efforts).

Freedom of association is one thing but anyone 'associating' with a white supremacist who still somehow fails to understand he is living in a democracy, is plain bonkers. But that's just my opinion.

Truth be told, some 300 people pitched up to listen to the old man speak. So yes, he has some support. Hell, there may even be some staunch AWB supporters reading this right now.

But anyone listening to Terre'Blanche, Malema and other South African politicians 'fighting' for any particular race group must realise that the racial classification they so energetically endorse hinders the progress of this country.

But, of course, that is precisely their aim.

To be honest, I was hesitant to write this piece in fear of giving the man more exposure than he deserves.

But then I realised, if level-headed South Africans can cope with Malema, there's no reason why we can't laugh off Terre'Blanche too.

AWB? Ek stem nee!
