Journalist Max Du Preez has held his ground in Parliament, accusing the African National Congress of being responsible for the problems plaguing the public broadcaster.

Du Preez did not hold back while he was interviewed by Members of Parliament, on Thursday, for a position on the SABC board.

The former Special Assignment executive producer's contract was not renewed in 1999, amid much controversy.

While the seasoned journalist might be applying for a job on the SABC board, as MPs discovered, that does not mean he is willing to tell them what they want to hear.

"You also should take some responsibility for the mess. The ruling party should also take some responsibility for the mess," said du Preez

Du Preez explained that without the presence of a board determined to establish the SABC as an independent broadcaster, the corporation will continue to crumble.
