The Correctional Services Ministry says it is not investigating whether fraud and corruption convict Schabir Shaik violated his parole conditions after he was allegedly spotted playing golf this week.

The Mercury newspaper reported several golfers saw Shaik enjoying a round of golf at the Papwa Sewgolum Golf Course in Durban on Wednesday.

President Jacob Zuma's former financial adviser was released on medical parole earlier this year.

It has been seven months since Shaik was released on medical parole and sightings of him out and about in Durban are a regular occurrence.

Earlier this year a DA councillor claimed to have spotted the convict driving through the streets of the city.

To date neither the media nor opposition parties have provided substantial proof of this.

The ministry's Sonwabo Mbananga said until evidence was produced no investigation would be conducted.

The controversial businessman is allowed to leave home to go to mosque on Fridays and is allowed free time to do as he likes on Saturdays between 12pm and 4pm.
