A man in the United States has been arrested for indecent exposure despite being in his own home at the time.

Eric Williamson failed to get dressed before making himself a cup of coffee in his Virginia home at around 5.30am, according to Fox News.

A woman and a seven-year-old boy walking past Williamson's kitchen were startled as they glanced through the window. The woman then called the police and the 29-year-old Hawaiian was arrested for indecent exposure.

"Yes, I wasn't wearing any clothes but I was alone, in my own home and just got out of bed. It was dark and I had no idea anyone was outside looking in at me," Williamson, a driver by profession, explained.

Police say they took Williamson into custody as they believed he intentionally exposed himself to unsuspecting passers-by.

"I am a loving dad. Any of my friends and anyone knows that and there is not a chance on this planet I would ever, ever, ever do anything like that to a kid."

If he is convicted, Williamson could be fined $2000 and faces up to a year in prison.
