There has been yet another mugging in the Table Montain National Park, park authorities said on Thursday.

Spokesperson Phumeza Mgxashe said a group of five women and a 12-year-old boy were confronted by two knifemen while walking dogs on Wednesday morning in the Black Hill area.

The muggers took personal items, including cellphones and jewellery, Mgxashe said.

The incident was reported at the Oceanview police station, and the park would step up foot patrols in the area.

Last week Wednesday four visitors and a guide were mugged at the Silvermine dam in the park, one of the visitors being stabbed in the incident.

Two days later a local woman and a friend from the United Kingdom were robbed while walking down Lion's Head.

In March, four muggers who robbed a German couple near Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens were arrested after a three-hour chase over rocky terrain and dense vegetation.

A fifth suspect died of dehydration and heat exhaustion.

There was a spate of muggings in the park last year.
