Police divers on Sunday afternoon called off the search for the body of a 35-year-old man who jumped from the Storms River Bridge, Eastern Cape police said.

An eyewitness said the man from Extension 32, in Port Elizabeth jumped from the bridge at 9.10am, said Inspector Gerda Swart.

"The visibility was bad at this stage, because it's a gorge. The search will continue on Monday," said Swart.

Police are investigating.
