The Congress of South African Trade Unions in the Free State on Monday gave its support to provincial ANC calls that Premier Beatrice Marshoff should resign.
Cosatu provincial secretary Sam Mashinini said the organisation found nothing wrong with the ANC provincial executive committee's (PEC) decision to ask Marshoff to resign.
"It is the federation's understanding that the decision to request the premier of the Free State to resign was a resolution taken democratically in the ANC provincial conference held in Parys early this year," said Mashinini.
He said the PEC's decision was merely the implementation of a conference resolution.
Provincial ANC spokesperson Teboho Sikisi confirmed on Monday that an ANC delegation would discuss Marshoff's resignation with her on Monday evening.
Marshoff was due back in Bloemfontein from the United States during Monday afternoon, and would probably go directly into discussions about her future as premier.
