Six murder accused were on Thursday granted bail in the Atteridgeville Regional Court, Pretoria police said.
Magistrate Cowen granted bail of R1000 each to the five men and a woman aged between 20 and 45 years, said Inspector Daniel Mavimbela.
Steven Sikhula (28), Richard Kgoale (30), Jimmy Molaoa (21), Solomon Sikhula (25), Jackson Mokganya (44) and their female co-accused Ntobana Maputla (30), were arrested on Tuesday for the murder of Austin Khumalo on 1 December last year.
"The six were part of a group that assaulted Khumalo. He later died in hospital of his injuries," said Mavimbela.
Khumalo was accused of housebreaking and theft of electrical appliances in Jeffville informal settlement, in Atteridgeville, said Mavimbela.
The six were expected to appear in court on 6 November.
