Ten motorists were arrested for speeding in the early hours of Saturday morning on the N1 South, Johannesburg metro police said on Sunday.
Chief Superintendent Wayne Minnaar said the motorists were arrested at the Allandale on-ramp in Midrand.
The highest speed was a 37-year-old male in a black VW Golf who was caught doing 223 kilometres per hour at 3.45am.
"He told the officer he was in a hurry to come home as he was [coming] from a party in Pretoria," said Minnaar.
