A 30-year-old Somali man was gunned down in his spaza shop on Sunday afternoon in Kwanobuhle in the Eastern Cape.

About six men, two of whom carried firearms entered Mohammed Abdi's shop in Madikizela Street at about 6.30pm and attacked him.

A struggle ensued between Abdi and his attackers, said Superintendent Priscilla Naidu.

Shots were fired and a bullet hit Abdi in the neck and he collapsed and died at the scene.

The men fled with two cellphones.

A Somali witness called the police. No arrests have been made and a case of armed robbery and murder is being investigated.
