Allegations of mismanagement against the City of Tshwane were false, Mayor Gwen Ramokgopa said on Thursday.
"We have not found any evidence of the issues raised," Ramokgopa told reporters in Soshanguve, north of the city.
This follows the airing of the Carte Blanche TV programme at the weekend, in which allegations of nepotism and corruption were raised.
"We call on M-Net to approach us with the evidence," said the mayor, shortly after handing over two houses as part of a housing project in the area.
Ramokgopa said it was "mischievous and irresponsible" that questions sent to the municipality by Carte Blanche did not include many of the allegations that were aired on the programme on Sunday.
She said the programme seemed to have relied on sources from opposition parties, particularly the Democratic Alliance.
Ramokgopa said the city was committed to zero-tolerance of fraud, corruption and nepotism.
She would not say whether the city would take legal action against the programme, saying it could have been a case of "poor research".
The mayor expressed her satisfaction with council finances despite claims that about R300 000 was being spent on council lekgotlas.
"I am satisfied that the finances of the council are in good hands," she said.
On Wednesday, the Freedom Front Plus requested the Public Protector to investigate the allegations. It said should they be founded, the party would ask the provincial government to place the city under curatorship.
