The Parliamentary inquiry into the South African Broadcasting Corporation’s board is underway once more, nearing its conclusion and seeking to piece together on-goings at the state broadcaster over the past few years.
Earlier this week, the ‘working document’ of the ad-hoc’s committee’s inquiry was leaked to the public, and has since been studied and scrutinised by many, including the Democratic Alliance’s shadow Minister of Communications, Phumzile van Damme.
“The DA has read the document; it is a good start and framework, however much more work is needed for it to truly serve the purpose of steering the SABC to calm waters,” she says.
While the committee has not yet finalised its report, it will seek to do so over the next two days, potentially placing several SABC higher-ups under some serious scrutiny.
