Nhleko says the matter went before a court of law last year and those processes are continuing.
The City Press reported that Nhleko allegedly ignored a shortlist of five highly qualified officers and appointed Ntlemeza.
The City Press says while Ntlemeza did not make it to the first shortlist of five potential officials to take over from Anwa Dramat in 2013, he ended up filling the post two years later anyway.
The police minister has condemned the report.
“It would be incorrect whilst we’re waiting for a court judgment on the issue, we’re now beginning to retry the matter in a sense and of course there is no media house that is a proper platform to hear legal matters.”
Civil rights groups Freedom Under Law and the Helen Suzman Foundation are currently challenging Ntlemeza’s position in the high court on the grounds that he is unfit to hold office.
