Thursday’s heavy rains saw several parts of Gauteng experience flash floods, including the south of Johannesburg and the East Rand.
Emergency services are back on the scene in an effort to find the Dobsonville teenager.
Community members have gathered at the scene trying to make sense of what happened to the 14-year-old girl.
Emergency services' Nana Radebe says two teams are currently searching inside a storm drain, where the girl is believed to have fallen while walking home from school.
“We have two teams, including divers, working along the stream and others searching on the side.”
It started raining again, Radebe says this may hinder the operation.
“The rain might make it difficult for the divers to continue with the search.”
With more downpours residents say they fear more floods.
