The State has revealed that there are still several suspects at large in connection with the OR Tambo International Airport heist.
Currently, there are seven suspects facing charges, six of whom are applying for bail in the next week.
The seventh person had his case withdrawn due to a technicality but he was re-charged on Wednesday and remains out on bail.
This week another suspect was arrested and is now due to apply for bail, while charges against one of the initial suspects have been reinstated.
His case has been postponed to the end of May for further investigation.
The bail applications of the six others were due to get underway on Wednesday but their defence teams were not ready to proceed. They will be appearing over three days.
Meanwhile, State prosecutor Pieter Erasmus says it could take at least six months to finalise their investigation, revealing that it has been extended beyond South Africa’s borders.
The heist occurred in the first weeks of March, where robbers used police uniforms, weapons and a counterfeit police vehicle to steal around 20 million in foreign currency. The state has yet to see anyone convicted.
