JOHANNESBURG - The South African Social Security Agency (Sassa) says it's confident the pay out of social grants will go smoothly on Saturday morning at ATMs and merchandise stores across the country.
Recently, there’s been confusion around whether beneficiaries will be paid on 1 April as it falls on a Saturday.
The Social Development Department and Sassa have come under fire in recent months, after they failed to secure a deal with a new grant distributor in time for pay-outs on 1 April.
The Constitutional Court has allowed the current contractor Cash Paymaster Service (CPS) to continue with distributions for the next year.
Sassa's Kgomoco Diseko says the agency is not expecting any problems with the pay-outs on Saturday morning, as CPS is not a new contractor and has experience with the system.
“We do not foresee any hindrances because nothing has changed in terms of our processes. We will be able to do the job that’s expected of us. Any social grant beneficiaries who encounter any problems should contact the helpline.”
He say over 78% of beneficiaries are expected to make their way to ATMs and merchant stores on Saturday morning.
Diseko says there should be no confusion with the dates on the part of the beneficiaries as the next pay date is always stipulated on their slip.
