A joint intelligence operation in Limpopo province is leading to a vast clean-up of crime with aggressive implementation of in 19 areas of the province.
Over 259 arrests were made across those areas with suspects being charged with a plethora of criminal activities ranging from burglary, assault and rape, to malicious damaging of property and carjacking.
“This has been an attempt to demolish hotspots of crime and the more arrests we make, the more leads we receive to other cases”, says SAPS spokesperson in Limpopo, Lieutenant Colonel Moatshe Ngoepe.
The arrests follow a week of investigations which were carried out by the respective SAPS offices in the province.
Two weeks prior, the same operation yielded over 10 arrests in 9 areas for drug possession and drug related crimes.
Police say that 45 of the 259 arrested suspects were illegal immigrants into the province.
All suspects will appear before their respective magistrate’s courts as investigations are set to continue.
