Murder accused Henri van Breda has broken down in tears as his uncle gave evidence in his trial.
Cornelius van Breda, the twin brother of the 22-year-old’s father, took the witness stand in the Western Cape High Court.
Henri Van Breda stands accused of the murder of his parents, Martin and Teresa, his brother Rudi, and for injuring his sister Marli, in an attack at their Stellenbosch home in January 2015.
Cornelius described his relationship with his twin brother, Martin, as close.
He says his brother had a loving and pleasant relationship with his wife and three children, adding they hardly had any disagreements.
When Van Breda recounted memories of family holidays in Knysna with Martin and his family, when they were younger, Henri van Breda wiped away tears.
The court heard the Van Breda family had immigrated to Australia in 2006, and moved back to South Africa in 2014.
The uncle says the family moved back because Teresa van Breda was unhappy and wanted to be close to her family.
