Police in Limpopo province arrested and placed in custody a minor from Motetema, near Groblersdal, for what they’re describing as the brutal murder of a 15-year-old girl.
The victim’s body was found with severe injuries all-over her body by a passer-by on top of Tafelkop mountain.
Police have yet to complete investigations into the exact reason behind the murder, however preliminary findings show that the 17-year-old suspect was trying to force the victim – his girlfriend – to abort an unplanned pregnancy.
Police and community members have been in complete shock thus far.
“Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Nneke Ledwaba has noted this incident with disbelief, especially considering the brutality that characterised the murder and the age of both the victim and the suspect”, reads the official Limpopo SAPS statement.
