The South African Police Services (SAPS) have appointed Major-General Pat Mokushane as the new head of the Crime Intelligence Division.
Mokushane, who has served the SAPS for 23 years, has had experience in crime intelligence before according to acting National Police Commissioner Lieutenant General Lesetja Mothiba.
“He has thus acquired vast experience in the police’s crime intelligence environment and his placement as the acting divisional commissioner will enhance that division’s capacity to prevent and combat crime and maintain stability in South Africa”, said Mothiba.
Mokushane will replace current head of Crime Intelligence in the Free State, Agnes Makhele who held the interim post for 18 months.
The appointment comes after allegations surfacing of NPC Mothiba’s involvement in establishing an intelligence unit to deter Zuma detractors.
