The Democratic Alliance (DA) has, in a statement regarding the OR Tambo Airport heist which occurred in March this year, alluded to a report which implicates an operative of the South African Police Service (SAPS) Crime Intelligence Unit.
Captain Morris “KGB” Tshabalala has been named as a suspect in the R200 million rand heist which saw the use of fake SAPS vehicles and uniforms to throw-off security at the airport.
“A senior crime intelligence officer sent this information in a confidential dossier to Parliament’s Police Portfolio Committee Chairperson, Francois Beukman, on March 25th”, reads the statement by Shadow Minister of Police, Zakhele Mbhele.
The opposition has explained that it will seek clarification by Mr Beukman and the immediate distribution of the dossier in question in order to further investigate these allegations and render them public.
These claims follow the arrest of a SAPS Constable in Limpopo who was caught as an accomplice to a small business robbery last week.
