Less than a week since the burglary at the headquarters of the Hawks in Pretoria, reports have emerged of a break-in at the offices of the Gauteng North Director of Public Prosecutions.
The office, which is also located in Pretoria, was burgled last night, albeit authorities are still uncertain of what was taken from the premises.
The offices were accessed through windows above one of only two entrances on site.
No comments have been issued for the moment, yet the series of break-ins and thefts which have taken place on state buildings – particularly State justice structures such as the offices of the Chief Justice and the offices of the Hawks – have brought forward many questions.
Specifically, authorities were unable to confirm or deny that sensitive information was compromised in all three robberies thus far. Many critics have voiced concern over the level of security, both physical and procedural, in place at these important sites.
Investigations into the matter are due to begin immediately.
