A North West man has been sentenced to life imprisonment for the rape of a 38-year-old woman in July 2016, in what has been termed a triumph of justice by the local SAPS.
Retshidisitswe Fokotsane (36), was arrested in 2016 when the victim reported the crime to the Klerksdorp police.
Fokotsane lured the victim to his home with the pretence of having to fetch food for a get-together. He then proceeded to threaten the victim with an axe saying that he would cut her into pieces if she did not do as he asked.
The arrest and sentencing follows the announcement of a zero-tolerance efforts by the SAPS nationwide in dealing with violence against women and abuse.
