An inquiry has been launched into the circumstances which led to the death of two soccer fans during a stampede outside the FNB Stadium.
A group of people broke down an emergency gate on Saturday, before a cup match between Orlando Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs prompting allegations of counterfeit tickets.
According to Stadium Management South Africa, the fake tickets found contained serial numbers and are thought to be stolen stock from Computicket.
The first point of investigation will therefore be into potential negligence of stadium staff, security and ticket retailer, Computicket.
Further observations will also be made into whether the match should have been stopped.
Stadium management South Africa has stated that although morally questionable, the decision to keep the match going was taken to minimize risk with other fans already in the stadium.
