Lonmin is set to reveal draft designs for a memorial site to commemorate those who lost their lives at Marikana in 2012 during one of the worst massacres this country has ever seen.
The platinum producer chose to reveal the plans on Wednesday 16th August, marking exactly five years since 34 miners were gunned down by police during an unprotected strike.
Lonmin has stated that It wishes to begin a period of collaboration by urging every role player involved in the massacre to come and honour the victims once the site is completed.
At the same time, Lonmin will also launch its infill apartment project which is part of its employee accommodation plan.
The mining company has been reviewing and revamping hostels since the mass shooting in 2012 when poor living conditions were highlighted.
Meanwhile, no comment on the memorial site has been made by Deputy President Cyril Ramaphosa who supposedly gave the order to use live ammunition on protesters.
