Police in Limpopo say they hope a heavy sentence handed to a man convicted of rape will send a strong message to other perpetrators and ensure the safety of women and children in the province.
The man received a total of 115 years in jail for raping and robbing two women in Mentz village near Polokwane.
Limpopo police commissioner Nneke Ledwaba says convicting those who harm women and children will continue being a priority for police.
The police's Moatshe Ngoepe said, “The provincial commissioner Nneke Ledwaba has welcomed the sentence, he further commended the team.”
