Residents of Ocean View, protesting against gang violence, have demanded that Provincial Police Commissioner Khombinkosi Jula address their concerns personally.
Community members have entered the third day of protests burning tyres and blocking main roads with signs and singing.
Their biggest concerns lie with the supposed lack of police presence in the area with regards to fighting gang related crimes.
“We can’t take it anymore because all these gangsters are in our neighbourhood and people are scared to talk”, said one resident.
Protesters have expressed that they will not speak to local police and will not settle until the Provincial Commissioner hears their voices.
SAPS have said that plans to improve policing in the area, specifically to fight gangsterism, are being drawn up.
According to local reports, 20 people have so far been killed due to gang crimes.
