Police are searching for a gang who bombed a cash-in-transit van on the N1 highway at the Buccleuch interchange, bringing traffic to a standstill and making off with an undisclosed amount of money.
The crime happened just after 8 pm last night, prompting all four lanes of the freeway to be closed.
It’s understood the gunmen used explosives to blow up the van and gain access to the money.
The police’s Lungelo Dlamini said: “They fired several shots and bombed the vehicle before they took several boxes of an undisclosed amount of money.
“No one was injured. At this stage, the suspects are still at large, police have launched a manhunt for them.”
