All roads led to Zoo Lake and the Saxonwold compound of the Gupta family as hundreds of DA supporters gathered in the rain to protest corruption and State Capture before the controversial family’s gates.
Despite an interdict obtained by the Gupta family forbidding the opposition party from getting within 900 metres of their house, the DA has led its members close enough to surely pose a nuisance for the family.
DA Leader Mmusi Maimane will lead the march against state capture - joined by some of the party’s senior leaders.
DA member of the provincial legislature Makashule Gana addressed supporters.
“And we’re going to tell them that their time is up. They might have captured Jacob Zuma but they can’t capture us and we’re not apologetic because some people think 'why go into Gupta’s house?' It’s because ministers are being appointed there.”
Spokesperson Portia Adams says, “No, the intention was never for the Gupta family or one of the Gupta representatives to come and listen to what the leader has to say, but it would be beneficial for them I think if they do that.
“The intention was the DA leader lead the march and that we’re marching against state capture caused by President Jacob Zuma.”
