Violent protests have erupted at a student residence close to Cape Peninsula University of Technology’s (CPUT) Cape Town campus.
Refuse has been set alight in Tennant Street.
The upper section of the road has been closed to traffic.
Private Security officials and an armoured police vehicle are stationed at the corner of Tennant and Caledon Streets adjacent to CPUT's Cape Town Campus.
Further down the road police are locked in a stand-off with protesters pelting bottles from inside a student residence.
It's believed the group is upset as the outcome of a disciplinary process involving four students has been delayed.
They're also protesting over issues relating to the scrapping of student fees.
