The Cape Peninsula University of Technology (CPUT) has suspended classes for the day.
Violent protests erupted again, this time at a Cape Town residence on Monday.
Protesting students burnt mattresses, linen and threw bookshelves off a balcony during a tense stand-off with police.
They're unhappy with disciplinary action being taken against several fellow students.
CPUT spokesperson Lauren Kansley says: “As a result of ongoing campuses at our Cape Town and Bellville campuses, the decision has been taken to close all CPUT campuses after security assessment in the interest of student and staff safety. All communication will be via the usual university channels to students, staff and parents.”
