The 12 Apostles Hotel and Spa, on the outskirts of Cape Town, had to be evacuated on Thursday night amid an encroaching fire.
The blaze had been burning on the slopes above Camps Bay and moved dangerously close to the luxury hotel on Thursday night.
SANParks' Merle Collins says that more firefighters are expected to be deployed on Friday morning.
“The fire is still going strong. We have requested additional support from Working on Fire teams. The fire is high up on the mountains and has definitely spread to the back of Table Mountain National Park.”
Management took action and evacuated the hotel on Thursday.
Table Mountain National Parks says that the wildfire has burnt through a historic Muslim burial site.
It's unclear what sparked the blaze earlier this week, but strong winds and an ongoing drought are cause for concern as authorities attempt to contain the blaze.
Earlier this year a fire spread across areas of Hout Bay destroying informal houses and causing great displacement for those living in the area.
