The Financial Times has reported that suspect cash flows between South Africa, Dubai and the United States have prompted the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) to conduct a series of probes into the Gupta family.
The investigation, which will focus on Ashish and Amol Gupta who are the nephews of Atul and Ajay Gupta as well as US citizens, is set to scrutinise US companies and banks for alleged graft ties to the Gupta family.
Similarly, British financial watchdogs are primed to look-into HSBC and Standard Chartered for possible links to the controversial family.
Concern was passed onto the various UK authorities by Chancellor of the Exchequer, Philip Hammond, as a recommendation by industry professionals.
This will be a hot-seat situation for the Gupta family that has come under such fire in the past few months in South Africa.
