A man has been arrested in connection with another suspected hit on a gang boss.
Jerome Booysen was shot and wounded at Cape Town International Airport earlier this week.
Another bystander was also wounded in the shooting.
A man allegedly posing as a doctor tried to gain access to the ward where Booysen is being treated at Bellville hospital last night.
Sources say that security has been beefed up at the hospital, and there is a high police visibility inside and outside the facility.
The police's Noloyiso Rwexana says police are investigating the incident.
“A 39-year-old man was arrested for being in possession of a stolen vehicle. Once charged, he will appear in the Bellville magistrates court.”
A fight reportedly broke out at the hospital where Booysen is receiving treatment.
The incident is apparently linked to a shooting at a night spot in Stellenbosch earlier this month in which two people were killed, including Donovan Jacobs, who is said to be associated with the 28s gang.
Mother of two, Nicole Muller, also died in the shooting and another woman was wounded.
