Henri van Breda's testimony may be broadcast after Western Cape High Court Judge Siraj Desai ruled against the application asking for it not to be broadcast.
Van Breda has now taken the stand.
The 22-year-old is accused of the murder of his parents and older brother, and the attempted murder of his younger sister at their Stellenbosch home in January 2015.
Van Breda's testimony will be his legal team's final shot at trying to prove he could not have been behind the attack.
The defence has told the court they will not be calling up any more witnesses.
On Monday, defence advocate Pieter Botha has also requested that his testimony not be broadcast as this could add to the stress on his client.
Botha indicated that he was concerned that his client's speech impediment could cause the court to view him in a negative light.
